How do you measure blood pressure?

I need to measure blood pressure for a science project, can anyone tell me what equipment I will need to do this?

Cheers,

Accuracy of blood pressure monitor in cold weather?

Just had a visiting nurse come in to check my blood pressure. The outside temp was 22F. within 3 minutes and 10 minutes, she took my BP which showed higher than I’ve ever read in my life (by 30 pts on systolic and 20 points on diastolic). I can accept some "white coat syndrom" effect but my belief is that it had to be either the machine is inaccurate and/or it was in her car overnight or for so long that the temperature affecting the measurement. within an hour, I went to both a local pharmacies free BP machine and the average of 4 measurements was 126/85. I’ve asked for retest but wanted to see if anyone with experience (visiting nurse?) can comment. Note: She also had a scale that didn’t turn on until she stood on it 3-4 times due to being "too cold" (her words).

Life in a Day – morning blood pressure test

My parents just bought a blood pressure monitor and were excited to test it out on me and my live-in ex boyfriend/ friend. If you are curious what language we are speaking, it is a chinese dialect from Hangzhou, China. ***note: the video ratio is incorrect due to upload error. The original video is high quality. ;)

Have you been induced at 37 weeks for BP issues?

I was induced at 39 weeks with my first, because I struggled almost the entire pregnancy with Blood pressure issues. They didnt like the higher readings so they induced me. I was exactly 39 weeks though I have problems all the time…. now with my second baby, I had BEAUTIFUL blood pressure all through it, till my last visit yesterday. It jumped up pretty high. They made me stay for an hour and monitored me and it went down to an acceptable level. They did blood tests, and urine and said everything looked ok. They monitored the baby and she was fine. Though they sat with me and said to relax as much as possible for the weeks ahead, and that I am scheduled to go back in for a BP check in 3 days. If its high again I will be induced. Isnt 37 weeks a bit early for mandatory induction? I know shes full term but I dont want her out before its time, I had pre-term labor and fought to keep her in this long since the 28th week and now they WANT to make her come out??? I dont understand doctors sometimes. Of course I will do what ever it takes to keep the baby healthy, just seems un-needed.
The baby is estimated at 6 pounds now according to the Bio=scans they did. She is doing every thing fine. I just think that my BP spiked cause of the mess that day with my first daughter and her outing with some friends. I just think they are jumping the gun, but as I said before and people are NOT reading it correctly. I WILL do everything that the baby needs. I am NOT selfish I merely think its a little premature. I wanted some helpful advice and support and I get people reprimanding me for being selfish. Thanks

Lower Blood Pressure ?

Is there anything over the counter that you can take to lower your blood pressure? I cant get in to see a doctor for two weeks and cant afford to go to the hospital. I have a blood pressure testing monitor at home and it is extremely high. Any ideas will help. Thanks

What do you think of BP's next step to attempt to contain the oil leak…?

tHis actually seems to be the easiest, and most logical option that they probably should have tried first…..What do you think?

"BP to install new containment system
Doug Suttles, chief operating officer of BP Exploration & Production, said the top kill pumping started at 1 p.m. CDT on May 26. The operation involved repeatedly pumping awhile and then stopping and monitoring the well. The decision to give up on the top kill effort was made about 4 p.m. on May 29.

“The next thing to do is to capture as much of the flow as we can,” Suttles said, adding the LMRP cap is expected to collect a majority of the leaking oil and gas. “It’s another version of what we used to call top hat” (OGJ, May 17, 2010, p. 23). The collected oil and gas will go to a drillship on the surface.

The LMRP cap installation involves cutting and then removing the damaged riser from the top of the failed BOP to leave a cleanly-cut pipe. The cap is designed to be connected to a riser from Transocean’s Discoverer Enterprise drillship and placed over the LMRP with the intention of the cap capturing most of the oil and gas flowing from the well.

BP said the LMRP cap “has not been previously carried out in 5,000 ft of water, and the successful deployment of the containment system cannot be assured.”

The first relief well has reached 12,090 ft of its 18,000 ft TD. Drilling of the second relief well is temporarily suspended and is expected to recommence shortly. It’s at 8,576 ft.

“This scares everybody, the fact that we can’t stop this flow,” Suttles said. “We are going to keep after it until we get it fully contained, fully stopped, and until we get this relief well done.”"

Rico-I am not a liberal thanks for playing.
Val I know. I saw the saw on the lIve feed this morning. but if it is mostly contained cleanup can seriously be the focus.
